Genuinely the title of the email that hit my inbox yesterday morning. To the untrained eye, they sound like incredibly deals don’t they? ‘67% off a one-month supply of green coffee bean and garcinia cambogia.’ What a bargain! ‘£12 instead of £22.51 for a one-month supply of raspberry keytone 2:2:1 capsules – get two-parts raspberry keytone, two-parts caffeine and one-part grape extract’? Who doesn’t want to save money where they can?
My problem with the dangerous offers we get bombarded with on health and fitness supplements is that these products are only a benefit to those who know what they are looking for.
For one thing, Keytone, as one of the ads so helpfully promotes describes the sound made by a musical instrument. Ketones, however, which I am guessing is what the product is supposed to be promoting, refers to a chemical family of compounds. Compounds your body naturally produces when it doesn’t have enough carbohydrates from food for your cells to burn for energy, and so it switched to burning fat instead. Something you don’t actually need if you have a healthy body and a balanced diet in the first place.
A quick test would be for me to ask you, without a Google search, can you tell me what garcinia cambogia is and what health benefits it brings to the table? What about the many other our ‘fat stripping, powerful antioxidising supercalifragilisticexpialidocious powerful superfoods’ that a lot of our products are jam-packed full of?
Instead of businesses flogging placebo products that in the long run are going to promote trying to take shortcuts, and not having any results and so discouraging you from healthy living because the activity you thought you were taking towards positive change didn’t yield any results and so you think it doesn’t work.
